A salon is an organized gathering where a leader gives a short presentation to stimulate a longer period of discussion, usually followed by socializing to continue the conversation. Made popular in French intellectual circles, the Parisian literary salons gave opportunities for critical engagement on pressing issues of the time.
Prior to Covid, we hosted salons for several years on themes motivated by distinguished local clinicians. Terry Marks-Tarlow, Stan Tatkin, the late Marion Solomon, Elaine Rosenson, Dave Grill, Stan Friedman and Eileen Paris are a few of those who facilitated discussions. These salons led to forming ongoing groups and deep friendships.
We have decided to restart a monthly salon series in 2026 to bring people together for intellectual discourse and social engagement. These salons will address current issues as well as classical clinical concerns. Our general format is a 30-minute presentation with a 60-minute discussion, followed by socializing over a potluck meal.
These salons are intimate in-person events generally limited to 20 people and are located in a private home in Encino, California. They are not recorded or avaiable via telehealth. There is no charge, no CEs and no one is paid. We will be announcing salon topics early in the new year.
